Successful acoustic optimization in a historical setting

Wittenberge train station

After three years of general renovation of the Wittenberge train station (built in 1846), the project shows how modern room acoustics and monument protection go hand in hand. One of the central tasks in the listed reception building was the acoustic improvement of the rooms. In the historic Mitropa Hall, which today serves as a “first class reception”, the sensitive stucco and coffered ceilings were not allowed to be structurally changed. The Spalek company solved this challenge through the targeted use of precisely color-matched wall panels in the interior, which effectively minimize reverberation.

In the newly built mobility hub and the service point, targeted work was also carried out to reduce noise: specially integrated ceiling panels noticeably optimize the room acoustics – which, above all, gives the adjacent seminar rooms a professional, quiet working atmosphere.
