Thuringian Forest
The symbiosis of modern interior design, the highest fire safety standards, and biophilic design was the focus of the “Thuringian Forest” project. Through the targeted use of innovative fabric technologies, a functional thoroughfare was transformed into an atmospheric spatial experience.
A central element of the design is the seamless visual expansion of the space through floor-to-ceiling, backlit wall surfaces. The chosen motif of a light-flooded forest scene brings nature directly into the building. The precise, high-resolution printing technique on the textile substrate guarantees an authentic depth effect, visually opening up the corridor and creating a calming, inviting atmosphere. The homogeneous LED backlighting ensures shadow-free illumination, making the motif appear three-dimensional and vibrant at any time of day.
Particular attention was paid to meeting the stringent building code fire safety requirements for sensitive escape and rescue routes. This was achieved using a specialized high-tech fiberglass fabric, which is classified as non-combustible (building material class A2). This system combines the aesthetic advantages of a classic stretch ceiling or textile wall covering with maximum safety in commercial construction.
The fabric was stretched wrinkle-free using invisible, delicate profile systems and, despite its high material density, allows for excellent light transmission. Integrated functional elements such as doors, passageways, and elevator portals were meticulously integrated into the wall design, ensuring a completely seamless and uninterrupted visual experience reminiscent of the Thuringian Forest.
